UAE 2017
GLCM team
During January 2017, the GLCM team traveled to Abu Dhabi and Dubai within the United Arab Emirates. The trip included visits to places such as Dubai Creek Harbour, Midfield Terminal in Abu Dhabi, and the top Architecture, Construction, Engineering, and Development firms servicing the region. Partners for this trip included Turner International Middle East, Santiago Calatrava, Hill International, EMAAR, Atkins, Alhabtoor, Belbadi Enterprises, and AECOM.
Each of the firms highlighted the importance of community integration, use of local labor, local manufacturing, and training of the locals, as well as an emphasis on prefabrication and new construction technologies.

Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Holds Open Discussion
The focus of the visit centered on Expo 2020 and future construction developments. This included looking into future maintenance and expansion in initial designs of construction spaces, as well as developing infrastructure to support socio-economic growth. The Procurement and Schedule risks to the region are similar to other markets, however, points such as the state of the art quality in building design and construction, as well as potential financial risks were conversations of great interest during the trip.
