There are 3 times the natural disasters occurring today compared to the early 1980s. Our industry produces roughly 50% of the solid waste in the US, is the #1 consumer of global raw materials, and nearly 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions are attributable to buildings and construction. In the past few years, the GLCM group has had several teams perform comprehensive studies focused on sustainable trends, policies, and best practices that affect both infrastructure and building construction. Furthermore, another GLCM study was initiated to analyze major cities across North America, their sustainability practices, and initiative. City-specific ranking comparisons were conducted to understand the strengths, weaknesses, and scope of each city's sustainability practices. Another GLCM study focused on analyzing trends in moving toward sustainable infrastructure.
